Most of the exposed rock in this area is composed of limestone... great for rock shelters, but not for pictographs or petroglyphs. At this time we have found one pictograph, but have not been able to locate the shelter with the petroglyphs.
These are just a few of the rock shelters that we visited. Many showed signs of habitation and some had an associated roasting pit.

There was a lot of evidence of digging in the area; in fact in one of the holes dug by artifact hunters held an incredible find: visible were five or six gas tanks. What I am curious about is why did someone bury car gas tanks?
