| This shelter / cave shows evidence of having been used by native Americans, possibly by a shaman or for vision quest rituals. There is also an excellent chance that due to its proximity to the Las Vegas valley, it has been used for shelter or just hanging out by modern day hunters and or campers. The elevation of the shelter above the valley floor offers seclusion and an excellent view of its surroundings, two things that may have been necessary for a spiritual quest. Please note: The horizon in the photo (last photo top row) has been altered to help protect the location of the shelter. |

| Sadly, the burros in the 2004 photos below are no longer in the Blue Diamond area thanks to the statewide "round up" of the wild horses and burros by the Nevada BLM. Sights like this were once common place, and within just a few years, they have become rare. I, for one, miss seeing them in the wild... |
